Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted February 11, 2024 Journalists Posted February 11, 2024 Winning by a neck at 'The Great RIP' on Sunday afternoon, 'TDN Rising Star' Maymun (Frosted–Handwoven, by Indian Charlie) was up for his first two-turn test, but it ended up being a match race against his Bob Baffert stablemate. In his second career start after he blew the doors off his debut by 7 1/2 lengths at Santa Anita Jan. 20, the 'Rising Star' faced a field of four others, which included Baffert trainee Imagination (into Mischief). Seizing the lead into the first turn, Maymun set the pace and continued to enjoy the top spot up the backstretch. However, his shedrow partner joined him heading into the far turn and the pair hooked up in a pitched battle. Just when the heavy favorite looked beaten in the final jumps, the $900,000 OBS April grad surged ahead and got the win. The final running time was 1:36.65. Sales History: $900,000 '23 OBSAPR. Lifetime Record: 2-2-0-0. O-Zedan Racing Stables; B-Vision Racing & Sales LLC (KY); T-Bob Baffert. What a battle between the Baffert trainees! #2 MAYMUN ($2.60) found more late to best stablemate Imagination in the 6th at Santa Anita, keeping his record a perfect two-for-two.
