Timberlake Claims Rebel With Classy Effort

It was his first start on the year, but 'TDN Rising Star' Timberlake (c, 3, Into Mischief–Pin Up (Ire), by Lookin At Lucky) made it count as he outlasted all challengers to win the GII Rebel S. and continue his march to the first Saturday in May by securing 50 points.

Set off the pace as a trio of intent frontrunners disputed affairs early, he was called on for more as the field closed ranks midway on the final turn, and responded from the grandstand side as he inhaled those leaders coming into the lane. Despite drifting in the later stages, Timberlake was able to open his advantage to a clear margin as Northern Flame (Flameaway) and Common Defense (Karakontie {Jpn}) came calling as potential late problems during the scramble for the minor awards.
