Moonee Valley will be the destination for night racing this Friday, with a nine-race program set down for decision. With warm weather forecast all week for Melbourne, the track is expected to stay in the Good range for the whole meeting. The rail will go back into the true position for the entire circuit, with racing set to kick off at 5:45pm AEDT.

Best Bet at Moonee Valley: Midtown Boss

Midtown Boss has been beaten in his last two starts over 1100m at Caulfield in Saturday metropolitan grade. The Matt Laurie-trained gelding now drops back to Benchmark 78 level, while he gains the services of Mark Zahra and draws a nice barrier (2). Zahra will settle Midtown Boss behind the speed in the one-one position, and if he gets even luck from the 400m, he should be winning.

Best Bet

Race 8 – Silks#4 Midtown Boss (2)

4yo Gelding | T: Matt Laurie | J: Mark Zahra (60kg)

+130 with Playup

Next Best at Moonee Valley: Martial Eagle

After looking like the winner at the 100m mark last start, Martial Eagle from the Charlotte Littlefield yard was narrowly beaten by Roaring Engine over 2400m at Sandown. With another run under his belt, he should be ready to go over 2500m now. With Jye McNeil in the saddle, the son of Adlerflug should be able to settle midfield off the rail from barrier five before getting into clear air in the final 400m to make his run.

Next Best

Race 5 – Silks#7 Martial Eagle (4)

6yo Gelding | T: Charlotte Littlefield | J: Jye McNeil (55kg)

+280 with Picklebet

Next Best Again at Moonee Valley: Cattrall

Cattrall was an impressive winner at Sale on February 18, running home nicely to break her maiden at the fourth time of asking. That run suggests the step up from 1106m to 1200m should be no issue, and from barrier four, Mark Zahra should be able to settle just behind the speed. With even luck around the home turn, Cattrall can record back-to-back wins in the second race of the evening.

Best Value

Race 2 – Silks#8 Cattrall (4)

3yo Filly | T: Anthony & Sam Freedman | J: Mark Zahra (59kg)

+900 with Neds
