Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted April 13, 2024 Journalists Posted April 13, 2024 With 20 Kentucky Derby points on the line, it was Encino (Nyquist–Glittering Jewel, by Bernardini) who made every pole a winning one in the GIII Stonestreet Lexington S. at Keeneland on Saturday. The win gives the colt a total of 40 Derby points, which ties him for 20th and the final spot in the starting gate. Off at a price of 3-1, the homebred shot to the lead from his outside post and took the field into the first turn. The Brad Cox trainee continued to hold sway up the backstretch, but he began to receive pressure around the far turn from GISP The Wine Steward (Vino Rosso). Entering the lane, the pair separated themselves from the rest of the field, but it was Encino who found more and got the top points in the end. The final running time was 1:43.93.
