Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted April 24 Journalists Share Posted April 24 What VOBIS Day 2024 Where Caulfield Racecourse – Gate 22, Station St, Caulfield East VIC 3145 When Saturday, April 27, 2024 First Race 11:50am AEST Visit Dabble The VOBIS Day at Caulfield awaits punters on Saturday, where a stacked 10-race meeting with $2.9 million on offer is scheduled. Despite the track being a Soft 5 at the time of acceptances, it’s expected the track will be in the Good 4 range come raceday. The rail comes out 4m the entire circuit, with action from Caulfield commencing at 11:50am AEST. The Showdown Tip: Bold Bastille The Showdown (1200m) takes top billing on Saturday, and it should be a sit-and-steer job for Luke Currie about Bold Bastille. Ben, Will & JD Hayes have a classy sprinter on their hands and despite this being her first go at 1200m, the Brazen Beau filly should prove to be too slick. From barrier three, Luke Currie will take her to the front, dictate terms and as long as she can see out the extra 100m from her comfortable win at this track two starts back, her rivals will not see which way she went on the home turn. The Showdown Race 8 – #8 Bold Bastille (3) 2yo Filly | T: Ben, Will & JD Hayes | J: Luke Currie (56kg) -125 with Neds Best Bet at Caulfield: Hedged Hedged was massive in defeat at his first time of asking in Group 2 company during The Championships, and as he returns to Melbourne, the three-year-old has certainly found the right race to one better. The Capitalist progeny was lipped out by Group 1 winner Joliestar at his first go the Sydney way, and on his return to Caulfield, he should prove too good for his rivals, despite needing to give all of his rivals weight. Best Bet Race 9 – #1 Hedged (4) 3yo Gelding | T: Mick Price & Michael Kent (Jnr) | J: Ethan Brown (59kg) +130 with Dabble Next Best at Caulfield: Extratwo Extratwo beat all but Chorlton Lane at Bendigo on April 13 and in a similar race, the four-year-old mare can go one better. The Toronado mare was crucially held up for a run until the final furlong on that day, but once clear chased strongly to go down by 1.5 lengths, whilst the eventual winner had momentum on its side. Barrier one means she will need a touch of luck at some stage, but with the in-form Ethan Brown in the saddle, Extratwo will have every chance to bring up a third win from her last four starts. Next Best Race 4 – #4 Extratwo (1) 4yo Mare | T: Ciaron Maher | J: Ethan Brown (58kg) +300 with PlayUp Best Value at Caulfield: Unseen Ruler Matthew Williams’ Unseen Ruler seemingly found the backend of 2000m a touch taxing, but as the four-year-old gelding steps back to 1800m on the weekend, he looks to be a great each-way bet with online bookmakers. Barrier 17 is offset by the fact the son of Mongolian Khan will want to settle in the back half of the field and run on, and with a genuine tempo expected, the race shapes as though Unseen Ruler can launch a late challenge down the heart of the track. Best Value Race 2 – #12 Unseen Ruler (17) 4yo Gelding | T: Matthew Williams | J: Dean Yendall (59kg) +1100 with Bet365 Caulfield quaddie tips – 27/4/2024 Caulfield quadrella selections Saturday, April 27, 2024 1-3-4-5-7 8 1-5 Field | Copy this bet straight to your betslip Horse racing tips View the full article
