A winner first time out last season, he shouldn’t be lacking in fitness and is partnered with Daryl Jacob who has an excellent strike rate over fences at Sandown so all things point to a big run today.

The biggest danger looks to be Vivas who has taken well to chasing, having won two from two since switching from hurdles. He has gone up 5lbs but is progressing quickly so won’t give up his unbeaten record lightly.

Others to consider include fellow chase debutants Molineaux and Dentley De Mee who look to have races in them over the season ahead and can battle it out for the minor honours today.
