What Flemington Races
Where Flemington Racecourse – 448 Epsom Rd, Flemington VIC 3031
When Saturday, June 8, 2024
First Race 11:50am AEST

Visit Dabble

Flemington Racecourse is the destination for Victorian racing on Saturday afternoon, with a competitive nine-race program lined up. The rail is out +8m for the entire circuit, and although the track is rated a Soft 5 at the time of acceptances, mostly sunny conditions in the lead-up should mean an upgrade to a Good 4 prior to the opening event at 11:50am local time.

Best Bet: Quantum Cat

Quantum Cat returns to Victoria after a bold effort at Rosehill on May 25. The son of Kitten’s Joy narrowly missed out on his first Australian victory, making strong inroads along the inside rail but seemingly peaking in the final furlong. The Chris Waller-trained European import has potential to be a genuine Group-level stayer, and with Damien Lane likely to get every chance from stall three, Quantum Cat needs to be winning races like these to give credit to those claims.

Best Bet

Race 4 – Quantum Cat#3 Quantum Cat (3)

4yo Gelding | T: Chris Waller | J: Damien Lane (56.5kg)

+250 with Bet365

Next Best: Silent Surrente

Silent Surrente looks perfectly placed on the back of an outstanding performance in the Listed Centaurea (2019m) at Morphettville on May 11. She ran into a smart one in the form of Sea What I See, holding ground despite being forced to cross to the lead from barrier 13. She’s shown adaptability in the past, so with barrier three allowing Linda Meech to either lead or take a spot in behind the tempo, Silent Surrente will be giving a bold sight a long way from home.

Best Bet

Race 6 – Silent Surrente#12 Silent Surrente (3)

5yo Mare | T: Will Clarken & Niki O’Shea | J: Linda Meech (53kg)

+300 with Bet365

Best Value: Our Last Cash

Our Last Cash is flying heading into this BM84 third-up. It could be argued that he should’ve won both the Wagga Town Plate (1200m) on May 2 and the Straight Six (1200m) at this course and distance on May 18. He had zero luck getting out on both occasions, but from barrier 16 this time, a positive steer from Blaike McChief Stipeall should result in a change of fortune as Our Last Cash picks up a well-deserved winner’s cheque.

Best Bet

Race 9 – Our Last Cash#5 Our Last Cash (16)

6yo Gelding | T: Donna Scott | J: Blaike McChief Stipeall (58.5kg)

+900 with Bet365
