Fasig-Tipton-Winner-Logo.jpgCOGBURN (h, 5, Not This Time–In a Jif, by Saintly Look) continued his assault on the American turf sprint division with a jaw-dropping, front-running success in the GI Jaipur S., a 'Win and You're In' qualifying race for the GI Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint at Del Mar in early November. And if holding the form he's in currently, he will be a very difficult nut to crack. Drawn eight in a full field for the Jaipur, normally a six-furlong contest downstate, but shortened to 5 1/2 panels to accommodate the layout of the Mellon Turf Course at the Spa, Cogburn was bumped lightly at the break, but split horses to take up the running and was by the opening quarter in :21.33. Still traveling ominously well on the turn, he cornered for home with Irad Ortiz, Jr. high in the saddle, got the opening half in :43.07 and skipped clear in the final furlong, stopping the timer in new course-record time of :59.80. Arzak completed a Not This Time Grade I exacta. Sales history: $52,000 Wlg '19 KEENOV; $310,000 Ylg '20 FTKSEP; $150,000 2yo '21 OBSAPR. O-Clark O Brewster, William and Corinne Heiligbrodt; B-Bellary Bloodstock (KY); T-Steve Asmussen.
