Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted June 9, 2024 Journalists Posted June 9, 2024 After sire Good Magic and trainer Danny Gargan took home the GI Belmont S. with Dornoch on Saturday, the paired teamed once again with Society Man (Good Magic–You Cheated, by Colonel John) to capture the GIII Matt Winn S. under the Twin Spires on Sunday afternoon. Sent off at 6-1 in his first race since running 16th in the GI Kentucky Derby, the gelding was last heading into the first turn. Undaunted by the prospect ahead, Society Man got into gear by sticking to the rail around the far turn. Corey Lanerie's mount shifted to the three path at the eighth pole and took aim at Rocketeer (Curlin). Gaining the advantage at the sixteenth pole, the colt swept past and handed Gargan the win, who had both Derby entries deliver graded stakes victories over the weekend. The final running time was 1:42.33. Lifetime Record: 7-2-1-1. Sales History: $85,000 '22 KEESEP. O-Reeves Thoroughbred Racing, West Paces Racing LLC, GMP Stables LLC, Carl F.
