Zoffany’s Jayarebe Digs Deep for Hampton Court Triumph

Iraj Parvizi's Listed Dee Stakes third Jayarebe (Fr) (Zoffany {Ire}–Alakhana {Fr}, by Dalakhani {Ire}), who made an impressive black-type breakthrough in April's Listed Feilden Stakes, bounced back in style to secure a career high in Thursday's G3 Hampton Court Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Jayarebe broke smartly from the outside gate, but was trapped wide in a prominent position before accepting a tow in a share of third. Looming large when taking closer order off the home turn, the 7-1 chance hit the front passing the quarter-mile marker and was driven out in the closing stages to withstand the late thrust of King's Gambit (Ire) (Saxon Warrior {Jpn}) by 3/4-of-a-length in game fashion.

Jayarebe is the fourth of six foals and one of three scorers from as many runners produced by Listed Prix Joubert victrix and G3 Grand Prix des Provinces third Alakhana (Fr) (Dalakhani {Ire}), herself the leading performer out of Listed Henkel Trial third Dubai (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}). Dubai, in turn, is a half-sister to G2 Preis des Bankhaus Salem Oppenheim winner Denaro (Ger) (Dashing Blade {GB}), G3 Dr Busch-Memorial victor Davidoff (Ger) (Montjeu {Ire}) and multiple Group-placed Listed Mulheim Derby Trial winner Duellant (Ger) (Dashing Blade {GB}). The April-foaled bay is kin to an unnamed 2-year-old colt by Persian King (Ire) and a yearling colt by Victor Ludorum (GB).
