Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted June 25 Journalists Share Posted June 25 What Warwick Farm Races Where Warwick Farm Racecourse – 2 Hume Hwy, Warwick Farm NSW 2170 When Wednesday, June 26, 2024 First Race 12:25pm AEST Visit Dabble Warwick Farm Racecourse is the destination for metro racing on Wednesday afternoon, with a rejigged eight-race program set for decision after Saturday’s postponed meeting at Randwick. The $200,000 Listed Civic Stakes (1400m) headlines the action, with a quality field of 15 engaged. The rail is in the true position all the way around, and with sunny skies forecast in the lead-up, participants can expect a Soft 5 surface for race-day. Civic Stakes Pick: Strait Acer Strait Acer has failed to record a victory in six starts this preparation; however, the Civic Stakes appears to be his best opportunity to break the drought. The son of Headwater struck a deteriorating surface at Doomben in the Group 3 BRC Sprint (1350m) on May 25 and was left flat-footed in the home straight. The Group 1 placegetter gets in well with 57kg on his back, and with Tim Clark likely to slot into the perfect stalking position from barrier four, Strait Acer should get every chance to return to winning ways. Civic Stakes Race 7 – #4 Strait Acer (4) 4yo Gelding | T: Edward Cummings | J: Tim Clark (57kg) +750 with PlayUp Best Bet at Warwick Farm: Tarpaulin Tarpaulin was tested against some the best two-year-olds in the country last preparation. He ran fourth of six runners at Randwick on December 23 behind the likes of Straight Charge and Erno’s Cube, with the son of Harry Angel sticking to the task gamely despite being well beaten by 4.5 lengths. He has caught the eye at the trials since, and with James McDonald drawn to get a soft run from gate one, expect Tarpaulin to prove his class first-up. Best Bet Race 2 – #11 Tarpaulin (1) 2yo Colt | T: James Cummings | J: James McDonald (57kg) +100 with Unibet Next Best at Warwick Farm: Gram The James Cummings-trained Gram returns after 31 weeks off the scene and appears primed to strike first-up. The son of Exceed And Excel was impressive on debut last campaign, managing to find the minor money at Newcastle on November 18 with an explosive finish. His jump-out win at Rosehill on June 11 suggests he’s flying, and although McDonald will need to drag back from barrier 11, watch for this progressive two-year-old to launch down the centre of the course late. Next Best Race 3 – #13 Gram (11) 2yo Colt | T: James Cummings | J: James McDonald (56.5kg) +125 with Bet365 Best Value at Warwick Farm: Space Age Space Age looks set to peak after a bold effort at Randwick on June 8. The European import hit the line well despite the unsuitable conditions, with the four-year-old unable to sprint effectively on the Heavy 9 surface. Getting back on top of the ground should be ideal third-up, and with Molly Bourke taking 3kg off his back as he steps up to the mile for the first time in Australia, Space Age gets his best chance for success since arriving at the Ciaron Maher barn. Best Value Race 5 – #4 Space Age (5) 4yo Gelding | T: Ciaron Maher | J: Molly Bourke (a3kg) (60.5kg) +1600 with Neds Warwick Farm Wednesday quaddie – 26/6/2024 Warwick Farm quadrella selections Wednesday, June 26, 2024 4-8-11-14 4-6-7-8-11 1-4-8-14 1-5-9-16 Horse racing tips View the full article
