Hong Kong racing returns to the bright lights of Happy Valley Racecourse on Wednesday evening, with a bumper nine-race program set for decision. The rail is in the C position, and although there are scattered showers on the forecast, a Good 4 track is expected. The action is scheduled to get underway at 6:40pm local time.

Best Bet: Packing Hermod

The Francis Lui-trained Packing Hermod looks prepared to strike on debut. The son of Rubick has been educated across five barrier trials, with his latest piece of work catching the eye on the all-weather circuit at Sha Tin on May 31. Barrier two should allow Zac Purton to hold a prominent spot throughout the 1200m journey, and although Packing Hermod lacks race-day experience, he should get every chance to make an impression in this Class 4 contest.

Next Best: Patch Of Time

Patch Of Time held ground when returning from a let-up at Sha Tin on June 8 and should take plenty of benefit from that performance. It was a slowly run affair with nothing able to make ground from towards the rear of the field, leaving the four-year-old flat-footed when trying to get into clear running. This 1650m contest should have a genuine tempo throughout, giving Patch Of Time every chance to burst down the centre of the course under Karis Teetan.

Best Value: Star Line

Star Line is yet to bother the judge in seven Hong Kong starts but appears to be building to a peak performance at his third attempt in Class 4 company. The gelding by Dissident had his best showing at Happy Valley on February 28 behind Raging Blizzard, hitting the line well over the 1200m. The step up to 1650m should be ideal, and at a massive price with online bookmakers, Star Line warrants an each-way ticket.
