Racing heads to the Sale Turf Club in Victoria on Thursday afternoon with a competitive eight-race meeting set to greet punters. Clear skies are forecast for the day, with the track likely to remain a Soft 7. The rail will come out 4m for the entire circuit, with the Sale races on July 4 set to commence at 12:25pm AEST.

Best Bet at Sale: Mansiere

Despite never winning first-up from a spell, Mansiere’s form during the autumn suggests he can buck that trend. The three-year-old gelding has managed two runner-up efforts from three fresh runs, including last campaign at the Sale 1106m — the same course and distance he tackles here. He took Pantelone to within a nostril at Sandown last campaign and was far from disgraced behind the likes of Estriella and Caballus at Flemington.

Best Bet

Race 7 – Mansiere Silks#5 Mansiere (1)

3yo Gelding | T: Nick Ryan | J: Ethan Brown (60kg)

+170 with Picklebet

Next Best at Sale: Champagne Effort

Champagne Effort was beaten by a length at Wangaratta on June 20, which followed a similar defeat at Cranbourne the start prior. She draws perfectly in barrier two under Rose Hammond, who claims 3kg. With just 54.5kg on her back, and an economical run in transit, Champagne Effort should have no issues accounting for her rivals this time around.

Next Best

Race 2 – Champagne Effort Silks#9 Champagne Effort (2)

3yo Filly | T: Gavin Bedggood | J: Rose Hammond (a3) (57.5kg)

+320 with Neds

Best Value at Sale: Reprisal

Danny O’Brien’s Reprisal has been competitive in some hot form races in his three runs this campaign. The three-year-old gelding won over the Mornington 1200m two starts back, then was beaten two lengths by subsequent Caulfield winner Bossy Nic on June 10 when forced to travel wide without cover. Barrier eight is a touch worrying, but if Jason Maskiell can find cover in the second half of the field, Reprisal looks like a great bet at a nice price with horse racing bookmakers.

Best Value

Race 9 – Reprisal Silks#2 Reprisal (8)

3yo Gelding | T: Danny O’Brien | J: Jason Maskiell (61kg)

+900 with PlayUp
