NSW racing heads to Kembla Grange on Thursday for a competitive eight-part program that starts at 12:10pm AEST. The rail is out +8m between the 1100m marker and the winning post, while the remainder stays out +6m. The track is rated a Heavy 8 at the time of acceptances, and with more heavy rainfall on the way, punters can expect a bottomless surface for race-day.

Best Bet at Kembla Grange: Zaragoza

Zaragoza should relish the conditions on his first start for the Robert & Luke Price barn. The son of Street Boss had one win across his three starts for James Cummings, and that came at this course on rain-affected ground on January 3. His trials suggest he’s returning at peak fitness despite a 182-day spell, and with Chad Schofield likely to gain an economical run throughout, Zaragoza should prove too strong in the testing conditions.

Next Best at Kembla Grange: Carnegie Hill

Carnegie Hill has caught the eye in two recent barrier trials and appears ready to strike on debut. The two-year-old proved too classy in his latest jump-out at Randwick on June 14, making every post a winner as he cleared out to score by 2.5 lengths. Punters should expect similar front-running tactics for race-day, and provided Chad Schofield can slide across to the rail from barrier eight, Carnegie Hill will prove hard to chase down.

Next Best Again at Kembla Grange: Sing A Love Song

Sing A Love Song is building to a win fourth-up after a luckless effort on the Kensington circuit at Randwick on June 12. The son of Your Song made a late charge from the rear of the field and got within five lengths of Pure Alpha, suggesting a return to the provincials would be ideal. This appears a much easier assignment, and with Zac Lloyd set to take the reins for the first time, Sing A Love Song should get every chance to add a second career victory to the resume.
