RIU's Oatham plays Jockey favourites

It's been pretty obvious for sometime now...

These old timer Stipes have been around far too long and have made life long friends with some Jockeys...

..just ask Alan 'I'm buddies with everyone' Coles

So Oatham's turn this week...and his decree that Jason Waddell's Careless Riding rap sheet was "neutral"

...when Waddell had 3 suspensions in 6 weeks...about as "neutral" as a Red Neck Whakachunga drinking Trump supporter...

read and weep...just as well we have a "Neutral" JCA panel yelling BULLSHIT at some of these pally Stipes

Mr Oatham informed the Committee that this was Mr Waddell’s fourth breach this year having been suspended on 20 January 2018, 5 October and 26 October 2018. Mr Oatham submitted that Mr Waddell’s record was a neutral factor. He described the incident as being at the low end of the scale noting Ms Collett felt her mount was travelling poorly regardless and was not truly inconvenienced. Mr Waddell had attempted to ease himself out rather than this being an abrupt movement outwards.

Mr Oatham submitted, having regard to the JCA Penalty Guidelines, that Mr Waddell be suspended for a period of 5 national riding days taking into account all factors.

Mr Waddell accepted Mr Oatham’s submissions, promised to speak to his sports psychologist about this aggression during racing (which he conceded affected his decision-making) and told the Committee that he was really disappointed with himself having just returned from suspension.

Reasons For Penalty:

The JCA Penalty Guideline suggests a starting point suspension of 6 national riding days for a breach in the low range of culpability. The Committee agrees that that is appropriate here. The Committee also agrees that Mr Waddell is entitled to credit for his admission and for his candour as to why he is making these mistakes of late. The Committee does not agree, and cannot accept, the submission made by both parties that Mr Waddell’s record is neutral. Rather, the Committee determines Mr Waddell’s record is an aggravating factor and plainly so. This is his fourth suspension for careless riding this year. Accordingly, the starting point will be increased by one day to 7 national riding days for his record, with a discount of one day then being applied for the mitigating factors identified.

The word we don't hear is...accountability...because there is none. If the R.I.U operated as a private company there would be checks and balances, eventually heads would roll if cock-ups were revealed. Doesn't happen in the R.I.U. In spite of there being a ' General Manager' and an 'Integrity Committee'. it is clear that the buck stops...nowhere. How anyone can have confidence in Godber is beyond me, and also beyond a lot of other people, he is a ' vacillator'...( look up the dictionary if you don't get it ). Making a decision for him is..to not make a decision. Can't tell me he isn't aware of the criticisms, as are other people high in the 'food chain' but they just look the other way and pretend it's not their problem.  Tommo your'e correct , the system in NZTR protects the under/non achievers...of which their are plenty.

Oh for sure...

And Goddy and his 'worker' bees have never made a mistake..ever

He even had the audacity to criticise Sam Spratt when she said the Canterbury starter had issues and we needed standardised starting protocols

...6 months later...and after constant badgering from moi...The RIU orders standardised starting procedures...

Hes the classic carpet sweeper too...and he'll bullshit his way through it

We asked by Earily last week why so few bi carb tests were done in the North...

He said it's not a Thoroughbred problem...even though there's been ten times more done in the South...Even at minor meetings

So he simply ignored the question...
