What Ipswich Races
Where Ipswich Turf Club – 219 Brisbane Rd, Bundamba QLD 4304

First Race 12:17pm AEST

Visit Dabble

Ipswich Turf Club will host a competitive eight-race card this Friday afternoon, with the opener set to jump at 12:17pm AEST. The track was rated as a Soft 5 at the time of acceptances, but with no rain forecast on Thursday and Friday, it is expected to improve into the Good range. The rail will be in the +8m position, so the track could favour on-speed runners.

Best Bet at Ipswich: Shows A Sign

Following his impressive victory at the Sunshine Coast on July 6, Shows A Sign heads to Ipswich in search of a hat-trick. The Pat Webster-trained gelding exhibited good barrier speed to push forward and find the front before giving a strong kick on the home turn to run away with the win. If Shows A Sign can replicate that performance, the rise in weight should prove no issue.

Next Best at Ipswich: Malarina

For the fourth start in a row, Annabel Neasham and Jag Guthmann-Chester will combine with Malarina as she seeks her first victory of this preparation. This daughter of Your Song was made to work from her wide barrier at Doomben last start, and she struggled in the final 100m. Guthmann-Chester will have to push forward from another wide barrier, but if Malarina doesn’t have to work too much to find the one-one position, she can break through for a win.

Best Value at Ipswich: Island Tide

Island Tide heads to Ipswich following a dominant victory over 800m at Kilcoy on July 9. The Corey & Kylie Geran-trained mare has very good barrier speed, which allows her to find the front and run the race to suit herself. Landan Sykes has won on this daughter of All Too Hard three times from four rides, and if the apprentice can find the front from barrier two, there is no reason Island Tide can’t make it three win in a row.
