Not seen since running third in last year's GI Travers Stakes, Tapit Trice (Tapit–Danzatrice, by Dunkirk) made his return to racing a successful one as he netted the GIII Monmouth Cup in Oceanport.

The 'TDN Rising Star', who was tabbed as a 5-2 shot here, tracked a pair of leaders from the second flight into the first turn and up the backstretch. Ranging up on his targets around the far turn, the gray began to pour on the speed. Tapit Trice entered the lane full of run and he sailed home a no-doubt winner by multiple lengths over favorite Highland Falls (Curlin).

The final running time was 1:50.46.

Lifetime Record: 10-5-0-3. Sales History: $1.3 million '21 KEESEP.
