Thorpedo Anna Floods The Tubes And Fires In GI CCA Oaks At The Spa

There have been 108 editions of the Coaching Club of America Oaks and this time around the Grade I hardware went to the spectacular Thorpedo Anna (Fast Anna–Sataves, by Uncle Mo). The leader in her division, the 3-year-old filly just continued to shine and proved a deserving favorite.

It did not all go as planned though because Brian Hernandez's mount hopped at the start which forced her to play defense heading into the first turn. Displaying some fine tactical ability once again, the GI Kentucky Oaks champ targeted the pacesetter around the far turn, swept by her opponent and the race was over as she won by several lengths. Candied (Candy Ride {Arg}) was second.

The final running time was 1:50.95.
