Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted August 4, 2024 Journalists Posted August 4, 2024 With a timely move just before the wire, Waves of Mischief (Into Mischief–Pearl River, by Quality Road) netted the first graded win of her career in the GIII Pucker Up Stakes at Ellis Park on Sunday. A maiden-breaker first out at Keeneland back in April, the 3-year-old rolled into Ellis with blinkers off and as a 7-1 shot here. From the bell, the Brendan Walsh trainee closely tracked a bunch into the first turn which included favorite Pin Up Betty (Constitution). When the chalk seized the lead from the others up the backstretch it looked as though she had gained the advantage. However, Waves of Mischief came rolling down the lane and in the final jumps was able to secure the win. The final running time was 1:47.50. Lifetime Record: 4-2-0-1.
