Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted September 14, 2024 Journalists Posted September 14, 2024 The Road to the GI Kentucky Oaks officially opened under the Twin Spires on Saturday and it was La Cara (Street Sense–Cara Caterina,by Bernardini) who swept ahead and scooped up the 10 points that were available in the GIII Pocahontas Stakes. After a strong Saratoga for her stable, the homebred added to that haul when she broke her maiden upstate at fourth asking Aug. 11. Sent to Louisville and off as a 5/1 shot here, the juvenile chased the pace that included Liam in the Dust (Liam's Map). The filly clearly was game to collar the leaders past the eighth pole and down the center of the course she did just that to earn those Oaks points. Liam in the Dust was able to hold off longshot Icona Mama (Maximus Mischief) for second. The final running time was 1:37.82. Lifetime Record: 5-2-1-0.
