Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted 2 hours ago Journalists Share Posted 2 hours ago The Allan Labor Government has revealed its planned upgrades for Stony Creek and Moe Racecourses to enhance the race day experience for attendees and bolster the horse racing sector. Stony Creek Racecourse Enhancements Stony Creek Racecourse is set to receive upgrades that include a revamped bar and TAB area as well as a new alfresco deck with a shade sail in the works for patrons to enjoy upcoming race days in style and comfort. Construction is currently in progress for a customer service hub and race day office, with a completion date slated for month while additional upgrades are planned for later this year to further enhance the overall experience at the racecourse. The initiative, backed by $100k from the Regional Customer Facilities Program of the Labor Government and over $128k from the club, aims to improve the visitor experience during race days. “These upgrades to Stony Creek Racecourse reflect our commitment to ensuring regional racing clubs get the support they deserve. I look forward to seeing how these new upgrades benefit the club now and into the future” said Minister for Racing Anthony Carbines This year, Stony Creek Racecourse also set up a $319k automated irrigation system to enable consistent watering across the track while reducing the risk of leaks, overwatering, and pooling. Since 2014 till date, the Labor Government has allocated more than $840k towards racing events and development projects in the Stony Creek area. Moe Racecourse Upgrades The recent improvements at Moe Racecourse were made possible by a $1 million funding injection from the Labor government to enhance the visitor experience and better accommodate patrons and staff alike. The Moe Racing Club contributed over $2 million, while Racing Victoria chipped in with $300,000 for the upgrades to accommodate the venue’s 14 race meetings and 13 official trials aimed at boosting the club’s development and elevating the race day atmosphere. The upgrade features for the administration building include the race day services office, amenities areas, kitchenettes, cleaning rooms and a storeroom. It also includes a newly installed lift to improve access to the upper level of the administration building, housing two new function spaces with panoramic views of the entire racetrack. Since 2014, the Labor Government has put in over $1.3 million into the Moe Racing Club to help it thrive and grow in a manner. Member for Eastern Victoria for Tom McIntosh quoted “The thoroughbred racing industry in the Latrobe-Gippsland region generates more than $89 million for the Victorian economy and helps sustain over 700 full-time equivalent jobs in the region.” Minister Anthony Carbines highlighted the significance of race gatherings by stating that “The success of regional race meetings plays a vital role in the state’s economy and our investment helps ensure that racing in Moe continues to thrive.” “Our investment is helping to support the club’s growth with new and improved infrastructure, including the much-needed upgrade to the 50-year-old administration building.” The upgrades, to the Stony Creek and Moe Racecourses will enhance the amenities, for both spectators and participants alike while also contributing to the growth of the economy and backing Victorias regional racing sector.
