Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted September 21, 2024 Journalists Posted September 21, 2024 Adding yet another distance score to his impressive resume, MGSW Next (Not This Time–Bahia Beach, by Awesome Again) won the GIII Greenwood Cup Stakes for the second year in a row at Parx Racing on Saturday afternoon. Last seen taking by 22 1/4 lengths the Birdstone Stakes at Saratoga Aug. 4, the heavy favorite here started his run under a snug hold past the grandstand for the first time as former Greenwood victor Riden With Biden (Constitution) showed the way. Towards the end of the backstretch the pacesetter was ready to throw in the towel and that was the cue for the 6-year-old gelding to take control. Rounding the far turn, the distance specialist began to put on a show for the Bensalem crowd and he cantered home a winner by multiple lengths over Magic Michael (Dramedy). The final running time was 2:33.61. Lifetime Record: 23-13-0-1. O-Michael A. Foster; B-Silverton Hill LLC; T-William Cowans. NEXT wins for fun at 1/9 to make it back-to-back Greenwood Cup Stakes (GIII) at #parxracing victories for trainer Chief Stipe Cowans. Next was piloted by his regular rider @luanmachado85. #TwinSpiresReplay pic.twitter.com/MuynjYT4ql — TwinSpires Racing (@TwinSpires) September 21, 2024 The post The Power Of Next Could Not Be Undone In Greenwood Cup At Parx appeared first on TDN | Thoroughbred Daily News | Horse Racing News, Results and Video | Thoroughbred Breeding and Auctions.
