Non Compliant Wins ‘WAYI’ Oak Leaf, First Graded Winner for Tiz the Law

Hall of Famer Bob Baffert had four of the six in the GII Oak Leaf Stakes starting gate Saturday, a 'Win and You're In' race for the GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Nov. 1. Even so, it's a feat to saddle the first three home, which he did with winner Non Compliant (2, f, Tiz the Law–Sensitively, by Street Sense), runner-up Nooni (Win Win Win), and third-place finisher Tenma (Nyquist). $1.8-million OBS buy Nooni set the early pace, while $850,000 OBS grad Tenma tracked through fractions of :23.42 and :47.22 and Non Compliant chased in third. Non Compliant tackled Nooni on the turn and pulled clear under Juan Hernandez in an authoritative victory. Final time for the 1 1/6 miles at Santa Anita was 1:45.08. The victory marked the first graded winner for freshman sire Tiz the Law, who went into Saturday as the leading first-crop sire by earnings. Non Compliant was a $150,000 Fasig-Tipton Midlantic 2-year-old and broke her maiden on debut at Del Mar Aug. 31.
