Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted October 7 Journalists Share Posted October 7 Toorak Handicap favourite, Another Wil. (Photo by George Sal/Racing Photos) The Ciaron Maher-trained Another Wil is set to line up in Saturday’s Group 1 Toorak Handicap (1600m), with assistant trainer Jack Turnbull confirming the progressive five-year-old gelding is up for the challenge. “Still a horse on the rise,” said Turnbull speaking with Racing.com. “Physically he’s got a big frame, a lot of size and length about him, but I think he’ll get better with age, and I can’t fault what he’s done to date, and I can only see him getting better. When asked about a Group 1 Cox Plate (2040m) tilt later in the spring, Turnbull didn’t rule out the possibility, comparing him with stable companion Pride Of Jenni. “He’d make it very interesting,” Turnbull continued. “He’s pretty tractable. He can be handy, he can be mid-field, in the races that he’s run to date he’s been there about. “She’s obviously going to do her thing (Pride Of Jenni) if it were to be, I’d say he’d sort of be where Brightside (Mr) would normally be, just tracking up behind just having something to spot.” Another Wil is the clear $2.20 favourite with horse racing bookmakers for the 2024 Toorak Handicap, while $18.00 is available in futures markets for the Group 1 Cox Plate (2040m) set to be run on October 26 Horse racing news View the full article
