Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted October 10 Journalists Share Posted October 10 IMAGE What 2024 Hill Stakes Day Where Rosehill Gardens Racecourse – James Ruse Dr, Rosehill NSW 2142 (Link if we have track page) When Saturday, October 12, 2024 First Race 12:35pm AEDT Visit Dabble Metro racing returns to Rosehill Gardens on Saturday afternoon, with the $2 million Group 2 Hill Stakes (1900m) headlining a bumper 10-part program. The rail is out plus 3m the entire circuit, and with no significant rainfall predicted to hit the course proper, punters can anticipate a genuine Good 4 surface throughout the afternoon. All the action is scheduled to get underway at 12:35pm local time. Race 1: BM72 Midway Handicap (1400m) The Jack Pilkington-trained Alabama State gets one more chance to make amends after being beaten favourite in his last two appearances. He had excuses two starts back after drawing the carpark, and he ran into a smart one in the form of Unique Ambition in his most recent outing on September 28. He’s well-placed with 53kgs on his back, and with gate five allowing Kerrin McEvoy to land close to the one-one throughout the 1400m journey, Alabama State should be right in this BM72 Midway to kick-off proceedings. Selections: 16 ALABAMA STATE 14 TOTOKA 12 LLEWELLYN 2 PEACE OFFICER Race 2: Class 3 Highway Handicap (1500m) The dartboard will be needed for this one as horse racing bookmakers have marked this Highway contest $8.50 the field. Egyptologist gets the nod, however, heading into this in search of a hat-trick of wins. The son of American Pharoah has only missed the frame once in his short six-start career, and still appears to have plenty of upside as he tackles Highway company for the first time. Regan Bayliss should be working into a stalking position from barrier five, and provided he can get out in this massive field of 19, Egyptologist could prove hard to hold out. Selections: 15 EGYPTOLOGIST 3 DON STEFANO 2 WIGGLES 4 ONE BEAT NO BEAT Race 3: BM88 Handicap (2000m) Bear On The Loose got a pass mark first-up at Randwick on September 21 and should take major benefit with a fitness run under his belt. He was only headed by Floating on that occasion and looked to be holding his other rivals with relative ease as he went through the line. There’s no speed engaged in this BM88 contest, so with Nash Rawiller likely to take this race by the scruff of the neck, punters can expect Bear On The Loose to be giving a bold sight when the whips are cracking as he attempts to make every post a winner once again. Selections: 6 BEAR ON THE LOOSE 9 MEDATSU 1 CABOCHE 8 MARE OF MT BULLER Race 4: Group 3 Gloaming Stakes (1800m) The Group 3 Gloaming Stakes (1800m) is for the three-year-olds, where the Anthony & Sam Freedman-trained Henlein appears ready to peak third-up. The Dundeel colt was powering through the line in his most recent start at Moonee Valley in the Group 2 Stutt Stakes (1600m) on September 27, only being bested by genuine Group 1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m) contender, Evaporate. Stepping out to the 1800m should be ideal for this lightly raced galloper, and provided he gets any luck from barrier 11 under Tommy, Henlein can securing victory before looking towards some Group 1 staying features later in the spring. Selections: 2 HENLEIN 1 SWIFTFALCON 3 EL CASTELLO 4 DUVANA Gloaming Stakes Race 4 – #2 Henlein (11) 3yo Colt | T: Anthony & Sam Freedman | J: Tommy Berry (56.5kg) +270 with Neds Race 5: Group 2 Roman Consul Stakes (1200m) It’s D-Day for Switzerland as he heads into the Group 2 Roman Consul Stakes (1200m) on the back of a disappointing effort first-up in the Group 2 Run To The Rose (1200m) on September 14. He was fired up on that occasion and never settled after racing on-speed without cover throughout the 1200m, leaving pundits suggesting the Snitzel colt is simply more effective ridden with cover. He gets every chance to do just that from barrier four under Nash Rawiller, and if Switzerland doesn’t perform well in this, it’s hard to see this guy figuring in any major spring features in the near future. Selections: 2 SWITZERLAND 1 COLEMAN 8 HIGH OCTANE 4 GATSBY’S Roman Consul Stakes Race 5 – #2 Switzerland (4) 3yo Colt | T: Chris Waller | J: Nash Rawiller (56.5kg) +600 with Playup Race 6: Listed Tapp-Craig (1400m) The James Cummings-trained Snack Bar boasts some impressive form-lines this preparation and looks well-placed in the $500,000 Listed Tapp-Craig (1400m). He only been defeated by a combined 3.3 lengths across his two starts, running into a couple of star three-year-olds in the form of Autumn Glow and Lady Shenandoah. This appears to be a significant drop in quality compared to what he’s lined up against thus far, and although Zac Lloyd will need to ping across from the wide draw (10) to ensure he doesn’t get cast wide without cover, Snack Bar has the ability to drop this lot turning for home. Selections: 5 SNACK BAR 6 JUST PARTY 4 STOLI BOLLI 12 MORE TERRITORIES Next Best Race 6 – #5 Snack Bar (10) 3yo Gelding | T: James Cummings | J: Zac Lloyd (55kg) +400 with Dabble Race 7: Group 2 Hill Stakes (1900m) The Grahame Begg-trained Nonconformist represents terrific each-way value with horse betting sites in the Group 2 Hill Stakes (1900m). The son of Rebel Rader was doing his best work late in the Group 2 Chelmsford Stakes (1600m) at Randwick on September 7, on a day where it was a massive advantage to be on-speed. His second-up profile doesn’t read well, only finding the minor money once in seven starts; however, he’s never been a first-up horse wither, and the way he savaged the line suggests he’s in terrific order. He gets a soft run from stall five, so if there’s an upset in the 2024 Hill Stakes, expect it to be Nonconformist. Selections: 5 NONCONFORMIST 4 KOVALICA 2 ROYAL PATRONAGE 3 ATTRITION Hill Stakes Race 7 – #5 Nonconformist (5) 8yo Gelding | T: Grahame Begg | J: Harry Coffey (59kg) +1200 with Bet Race 8: Alan Brown Stakes (1400m) No one missed the stunning return of Gringotts in the Group 3 Bill Ritchie Stakes (1400m) on September 21. The son of Per Incanto should’ve won comfortably with even luck when trying to get clear in the concluding stages, still having the audacity to get within a lip of Mchale in the concluding stages. The big field with a genuine tempo should suit this progressive five-year-old, and with Tommy Berry likely to gain an economical run in transit from stall seven, it’s hard to oppose Gringotts in the $1.5 million Alan Brown Stakes (1400m). Selections: 10 GRINGOTTS 5 SEMANA 3 HERE TO SHOCK 9 ENCAP Alan Brown Stakes Race 8 – #10 Gringotts (7) 5yo Gelding | T: Ciaron Maher | J: Tommy Berry (55.5kg) +300 with Picklebet Race 9: Group 3 The Nivison (1200m) Olentia returns after a 182-day spell, and although she comes in lacking race-day fitness off one barrier trial, the daughter of Zoustar oozes class. The Chris Waller barn thought enough of her to be tested in Group 1 company behind stable companion Zougotcha at the end of last preparation, and although she didn’t figure in the finish, she was hitting the line well. She boasts a formidable first-up record of four starts for three wins and another minor placing to her name, and provided the breaks fall her way from gate three, Olentia can continue building on that record. Selections: 3 OLENTIA 4 COCO JAMBOO 6 A LITTLE DEEP 9 BLANC DE BLANC The Nivison Race 9 – #3 Olentia (3) 5yo Mare | T: Chris Waller | J: Tommy Berry (57kg) +170 with Boombet Race 10: BM78 Handicap (1100m) Pharari was a good thing licked at this course and distance on September 28 and should be looking for back-to-back Sydney wins. The Ciaron Maher-trained mare had nowhere to go before exploding in the final furlong when it was all over, leaving favourite backers holding their head in their hands as she passed the post. Zac Lloyd takes the reins this time from barrier one, and provided he can get off the inside at a crucial stage, Pharari should be lapping this lot. Selections: 10 PHARARI 5 DOLLAR MAGIC 9 PASSEGGIATA 13 CONFESS OUR DREAMS Best Bet Race 10 – #10 Pharari (1) 4yo Mare | T: Ciaron Maher | J: Zac Lloyd (56.5kg) +100 with Neds Hill Stakes Day quaddie tips for Rosehill Rosehill quadrella selections Saturday, October 12, 2024 2-3-4-5-6 1-3-5-7-9-10-12-15-16-18-19 3 10 | Copy this bet straight to your betslip Horse racing tips View the full article
