The James Cummings-trained Spacewalk is set to line up in the inaugural running of the $1 million Meteorite (1200m) at Cranbourne on Saturday afternoon, with the son of Exosphere being put through his paces at trackwork on Tuesday morning.

Stable representative Nacim Dilmi was on course to discuss the work of the Godolphin five-year-old, suggesting he should be ready to peak in the newly scheduled slot race.

“He was good,” said Dilmi speaking with Racing.com.

“Obviously he’s fourth-up, he was just here to look around the track more than anything, and the way he galloped I’m glad we did take him around.

“Cranbourne’s not an easy track so we’re pretty happy with what we’ve seen.

“He’s always ran well around tight tracks. He’s fourth-up, fit, and his run last time was pretty good. So we’re confident he’ll run well on Saturday, and it’s good to team up with the Busuttin (Trent) & Nat (Natalie) Young team for the slot.”

“Overall it looks like a nice race, but Spacewalk will be right there in the finish.”
