A half-sister to a McKinzie colt that sold for $110,000 at KEESEP that looks set for resale next season, the Mar. 31 foal hails from the family of 1997 GI Del Mar Oaks heroine Famous Digger (Quest for Fame {GB}). AFARIN (f, 2, Justify–Rusty Slipper, by Lemon Drop Kid), whose dam won the 2015 GIII Red Carpet Handicap for one of her two scores at the graded level and has also produced French SW & MGSP Adhafera (Ire) (Sea The Stars {Ire}), was bought back for $395,000 at Keeneland November in 2022 before hammering to Koji Maeda for $340,000 at last year's Keeneland September Sale. Rusty Slipper is a daughter of MSP Classic Approval (With Approval), whose 12 winners from 13 starters includes MGSW/GISP Gulch Approval (Gulch); SW & MGSP Approval Rating (Lemon Drop Kid); MGSP Highest Class (Mineshaft); and the dam of GISW sire Wicked Strong (Hard Spun).
