Mornington Glory, fresh off a successful spring campaign that included a Group 1 Moir Stakes victory, is poised for an ambitious international journey in 2025 under trainer Gavin Bedggood.

The sprinter’s itinerary includes two major races in Dubai, potentially followed by a shot at the prestigious King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot in June.

“He’s been invited to go and race in Dubai, and at this stage, that’s the plan,” Bedggood told Racing.com.

“He’s been back in work for two-and-a-half weeks and he’s had his first inoculation.”

Mornington Glory’s Dubai campaign is set to kick off with the $1.2 million Group 3 Nad Al Sheba Turf Sprint (1000m) on March 1, followed by the $2.37 million Group 1 Al Quoz Sprint (1200m) on April 5, both at Meydan.

“If his form in Dubai warrants it, then we will press on to Europe,” Bedggood added.

The journey could culminate at Royal Ascot, with the King’s Stand Stakes (1000m) in June being the ultimate goal.

Bedggood, however, emphasised that the European leg of the campaign would depend on Mornington Glory’s performance in Dubai.

Australian sprinters have a strong history in the Al Quoz Sprint, with notable victories by Ortensia in 2012 and Buffering in 2016.

More recently, The Astrologist secured a second-place finish in 2023, demonstrating the competitiveness of Australian-trained horses on the international stage.

Mornington Glory’s overseas aspirations mark an exciting new chapter for the sprinter and his connections, who will look to build on his recent domestic successes.
