Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted 15 hours ago Journalists Share Posted 15 hours ago Debuted in the GIII Bob Hope Stakes, MADAKET ROAD (c, 2, Quality Road–Frolic's Dream, by Smoke Glacken) offered an excellent account of himself to finish a distant second behind 'TDN Rising Star' Bullard (Gun Runner). Dropped into maiden special weight company on Santa Anita's opening day Thursday, the 4-5 shot had to contend with his preferred stablemate in San Saba (Justify) who broke sharper from the outside and was part of the early pace scenario as Madaket Road stayed back in fourth. As longshot Kokosan (Unified) took San Saba off the turn in a battle, Madaket Road cruised up from the outside and swept right on by the embattled pair well inside the final furlong. Charging at him late with an impressive run was first-time starter Father Ted (Practical Joke) but the winner was home safe.
