Burnham Square Goes Last to First in Holy Bull

Burnham Square (Liam's Map), a breakout, nine-length maiden winner with blinkers added at third asking at Gulfstream Dec. 28, backed up that effort in a big way with a decisive victory in Saturday's GIII Holy Bull Stakes, good for 20 points on the road to the GI Kentucky Derby. Favored Tappan Street (Into Mischief) was second; Burning Glory (Into Mischief) was third.

The 4-1 chance, drawn widest of all in post seven, trailed the field through an opening quarter in :23.42. He advanced on the inside down the backstretch, was shifted to the outside on the far turn and set his sights on Tappan Street at the top of the stretch. He kept rolling from there and kicked on to win going away by two lengths.

The final time for 1 1/16 miles was 1:43.60.
