Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted 5 hours ago Journalists Share Posted 5 hours ago Linebacker on his way to winning at Hawkesbury on debut. Photo: bradleyphotos.com.au Group 1 placegetter Linebacker is set to return to the races as a gelding on Saturday, stepping out in the Group 3 Eskimo Prince Stakes (1200m) at Randwick. The John O’Shea and Tom Charlton-trained three-year-old had just two spring starts, finishing sixth in the Group 1 Golden Rose (1400m) on September 28, before being spelled and gelded following coltish pre-race behavior that contributed to a below-par performance. “First-up he was very good last time in the six (furlong race), and he is going to concentrate a little bit better this week,” O’Shea said. “He came through his trial really well. I’m very happy with him and we’re looking forward to Saturday.” Linebacker will carry a top weight of 58.5 kilograms, with regular rider Kerrin McEvoy taking the reins. Horse racing bookmakers have Linebacker marked as a $4.20 chance for Saturday’s Group 3 feature.
