Pakenham plays host to a massive nine-race meeting this Thursday night, with the $300,000 Future Stars Series Final (1400m) taking top billing. Clear skies above will mirror excellent conditions on the track, with the surface rated a Good 4 and the rail in its true position. The first race will jump at 5:15pm AEDT.

Future Stars Series Final: Untapped

Untapped has been impressive in winning both of his starts following a 10-month layoff, the last of which has produced three subsequent winners. The son of Foxwedge stalked the lead on that occasion, and once he hit the front inside the final furlong, he never looked like getting beat over the Pakenham 1400m. Zac Spain will look to find a bit of cover from barrier 12, and as long as the pair are not caught wide without cover, Untapped has the finishing burst to win the 2025 Future Stars Series Final.

Best Bet at Pakenham: Knock Me Out

Knock Me Out ran a bold front-running race to finish third on debut at the Pakenham 1000m on February 13. The three-year-old Capitalist colt found the rail from barrier seven relatively easily and was only gunned down late to be beaten by less than a length. From barrier six, Koby Jennings should have no issue finding the rail, dictating terms, and having Knock Me Out charging away from his rivals.

Best Bet

Race 3 – Knock Me Out Silks#2 Knock Me Out (6)

3yo Colt | T: Peter Moody & Katherine Coleman | J: Koby Jennings (58kg)

Next Best at Pakenham: Barbaric Lad

Barbaric Lad was a dominant Caulfield Heath winner on February 10 when carrying 59.5kg to victory in Class 1 company. Having settled at the rear of the field, the son of Brutal came with a withering burst and relished every bit of a fast-run 1200m. He stays at the trip, and if Barbaric Lad can lug the big weight of 62.5kg in a race that should be run in a similar fashion to his last, Ben Melham will have him there to strike when it matters most.

Next Best

Race 6 – Barbaric Lad Silks#1 Barbaric Lad (8)

3yo Gelding | T: Anthony & Sam Freedman | J: Ben Melham (62.5kg)
