QLD Racing News

Queensland’s thoroughbred racing schedule has been heavily impacted by Tropical Cyclone Alfred, with multiple meetings either cancelled or rescheduled due to ongoing weather and track conditions.

Racing Queensland has confirmed a series of changes to the calendar as race clubs work to recover.

The Eagle Farm meeting originally set for Tuesday, March 11, has been rescheduled to Wednesday, March 12, replacing the Doomben meeting, which has now been abandoned.

The cancellation of Doomben Racecourse has led to three additional races being added to the Eagle Farm program, meaning an expanded 11-race card will take place on Wednesday.

Similarly, Saturday’s Eagle Farm meeting on March 15 will also feature 11 races, providing more opportunities for connections affected by the disruptions.

Meanwhile, the Ipswich Turf Club meeting on Thursday, March 13, will proceed as scheduled, though conditions remain a concern.

Gold Coast Turf Club, which had been set to race at Beaudesert this week, will not be hosting any rescheduled meetings at this stage, with Racing Queensland opting to focus on keeping existing scheduled venues operational.
