After Running By ($4.80) took over from the tiring leader, the Mick Kent-trained mare starting to lay in slightly but when Lane switched the whip into his left hand, she straightened and let down with a very strong finish to win the 1600m contest. 2023: Sirileo Miss dominant from the front Sirileo Miss led from start to finish in the 2023 Group 3 Matron Stakes, bringing up the five-year-old mare’s third Group 3 victory. Ben Melham pushed Sirileo Miss out of barrier one to take the lead inside of Barb Raider, and he was able to control the pace and allow his mare to settle into a rhythm with little to no pressure from the second horse. As the field rounded the home turn, this daughter of Pride Of Dubai was still going strong, and as soon as Melham pushed the button, the mare kicked clear to put up two or three lengths, and the race was over by the 200m mark, as nothing was making ground from the back to cause the leader any concern. Sirileo Miss was a $12 outsider with online bookmakers, with the race favourites, including Barb Raider, Excelida, and So You See, no match for the winner. 2022: Flying Mascot a class above Race-favourite Flying Mascot was too good for them in the 2022 Group 3 Matron Stakes (1600m) at Flemington. The win came after the daughter of Tavistock was able to take out the Group 3 Mannerism Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield in his previous outing.
