Ballerina d’Oro Straightens Up For Gazelle Win At Aqueduct

Looking to make a heftier deposit into her Kentucky Oaks account, Ballerina d'Oro (Medaglia d'Oro–In the Moonlight, by Tapit) finished when it counted and got the win in the GIII Gazelle Stakes at the Big A on a misty Saturday afternoon.

The heavy favorite chased the pace into the first turn and was caught behind a trio of horses for the move up the backstrecth. With plenty of horse at his disposal, jockey Dylan Davis gunned the filly's engine and tried to sail past Early On (Union Rags) down the lane. Lugging in and on the wrong lead, the 3-year-old finally righted the ship and took home 100 Oaks points as she crossed the wire. The final running time was 1:50.67.

Coming into the race, Ballerina d'Oro had 16.25 Oaks points on credit.
