Tuesday, Deauville, France, post time: 15:05, PRIX DJEBEL-G3, €80,000, 3yo, c/g, 7fT

Field: Woodshauna (Fr) (Wooded {Ire}), Arabie (GB) (Dandy Man {Ire}), Dynamitic (GB) (Hello Youmzain {Fr}), Rosapenna (Fr) (Hello Youmzain {Fr}), Tiego The First (Fr) (Blue Point {Ire}), Maranoa Charlie (Fr) (Wootton Bassett {GB}), Le Roi Rene (Fr) (Ribchester {Ire}) and Silius (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}).

TDN Verdict: This longstanding trial for either the 2,000 Guineas or the domestic equivalent revolves around last year's sensation Maranoa Charlie, who after flaunting freakish ability on his first three starts spectacularly came undone on his finale. Able to domineer lesser rivals in Saint-Cloud's G3 Prix Thomas Bryon, the TDN Rising Star did way too much early against Twain (Ire) (Wootton Bassett {GB}) and co in that track's G1 Criterium International and this will tell us which way he is likely to go with a winter's tutelage under his belt. If Maranoa Charlie beats himself again, the most likely to benefit is the Wertheimers' winter worker Silius, whose three outings so far in 2025 have resulted in three wins including an authoritative one in the Listed Prix de la Californie at Cagnes-sur-Mer in February. This trip is on the sharp side for him given that he is a son of Silasol (Ire) (Monsun {Ger}), whereas it is probably too far for last year's G3 Prix du Bois and G2 Prix Robert Papin winner Arabie who hasn't given any impression he is anything more than a sprinter so far.

Tuesday, Deauville, France, post time: 16:15, PRIX IMPRUDENCE-G3, €80,000, 3yo, f, 7fT

Field: Ghoufrann (Ire) (Oasis Dream {GB}), Fraise Des Bois (Fr) (Zelzal {Fr}), Lhakpa (Ire) (Siyouni {Fr}), Kaadi (Ire) (Soldier's Call {GB}), Daylight (Fr) (Earthlight {Ire}), Mimos (Fr) (City Light {Fr}), Better Together (GB) (Oasis Dream {GB}), Relaxx (Fr) (City Light {Fr}) and Iron Bird (GB) (Showcasing {GB}).

TDN Verdict: In a trial that hasn't produced a Classic winner since 2015, it would be hard to get too excited about this cast were it not for the presence of a Fabre lurker in Juddmonte's Listed Prix Zeddaan winner Better Together. A half-sister to the smart fillies Pocket Square (GB) (Night Of Thunder {Ire}) and Yesyes (GB) (Camelot {GB}) from a family of middle-distance types, she brings the x-factor against a clutch of fillies we already know a lot about. Earthlight's best performer so far, Daylight moves up in trip having mixed it with the best sprinters in 2024. It's early days when it comes to assessing the stamina capacity of Darley's second-season sire, but interestingly he came from staying roots so it's a case of wait and see.
