Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted April 8 Journalists Share Posted April 8 Churchill Downs and the Louisville Bats have joined forces to bring fans the Traveling Kentucky Derby Experience ahead of the 151st running of the May 3 Kentucky Derby presented by Woodford Reserve. The event, which will be held Wednesday, Apr. 9, will also feature the Indianapolis Indians at Slugger Field. First pitch is scheduled for 12:05 p.m. ET. Fans will have the opportunity to take a photo with the Kentucky Derby 151 trophy and enter to win tickets to Derby Week at Churchill Downs. Also featured, 1978 Kentucky Derby-winning jockey Steve Cauthen will throw out the first pitch. Select fans will compete in a stick horse race, with prizes for the top three finishers. Kids can enjoy “Design Your Own Jockey Silks” activity sheets from the Kentucky Derby Museum and photo opportunities with jockey silks, goggles and helmets.
