What Good Friday Family Raceday
Where Ascot Racecourse – 71 Grandstand Rd, Ascot WA 6104
When Friday, April 18, 2025
First Race 12:15pm AWST

Visit Dabble

Ascot Racecourse will host back-to-back meetings over the Easter long weekend, kicking off with a very competitive nine-race card on Good Friday. The track is expected to remain in the Good range, with no rain in the forecast in the lead-up to the program. The rail will be in the +11m position for the entire circuit, with the first race scheduled to jump at 12:15pm AWST.

Best Bet at Ascot: True Blue Bondi

True Blue Bondi quickly put a debut placing behind him by claiming a dominant victory at Pinjarra over 1500m second-up. The Simon Miller-trained gelding settled behind the speed from a wide barrier and travelled like the winner a long way from home before taking over at the 300m mark to sprint clear of his rivals. William Pike will retain the ride on True Blue Bondi for the third straight start, and from barrier two, they can repeat the dose.

Best Bet

Race 6 – True Blue Bondi silks#8 True Blue Bondi (2)

3yo Gelding | T: Simon Miller | J: William Pike (57.5kg)

Next Best at Ascot: Exceed The Planet

Exceed The Planet will return from a 20-week spell and attempt to break his maiden at start number seven for Sue Olive. The son of Exceedance recorded back-to-back placings in Listed races last campaign and showed plenty of ability against his own age group. This race is much weaker than what Exceed The Planet has been contesting throughout his career, and with even luck, he will break through for a win.

Next Best

Race 4 – Exceed The Planet silks#1 Exceed The Planet (7)

3yo Gelding | T: Sue Olive | J: Holly Watson (57kg)

Best Value at Ascot: Dug Another Hole

After being nabbed in the shadows of the post at this track over 1400m last start, Dug Another Hole will step up in trip to 1500m. The Neville Parnham-trained galloper led every step of the way but was only run down in the final strides by Hymns Of Eladdair. With no other speed influence in this race, Dug Another Hole will get things his own way and is a great each-way bet with top horse racing bookmakers.

Best Value

Race 9 – Dug Another Hole silks#2 Dug Another Hole (8)

4yo Gelding | T: Neville Parnham | J: Brad Parnham (60kg)
