Exiting an 11 1/4-length tour-de-force from the front in the state-bred restricted Sophomore Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs Mar. 30, the $50,000 Keeneland September yearling and $60,000 OBS March juvenile headed off his rivals leaving the chute and was moving right along through an opening quarter in :22.43 as market leaders Madaket Road (Quality Road) and Gaming (Game Winner) tried to keep pace. Past the half-mile in a lively :44.93, Macho Music was still going great guns on the engine and was looking increasingly tough to reel in, with nothing coming from the back. Madaket Road and Gaming continued to plug away in the final couple of furlongs, but Macho Music never game them a chance, reporting home a two-length winner.
