Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted Saturday at 10:06 PM Journalists Share Posted Saturday at 10:06 PM The second ticket to Ascot on the afternoon was handed to Sandal's Song (Mendelssohn–Sandal, by Munnings), who made his debut a winning one in the Royal Palm Juvenile at Gulfstream Park. With the filly version going earlier on the card, the colts got their opportunity to earn a spot in a starting gate during the Royal Meeting, plus a $25,000 stipend for the trip. Tabbed at odds of 7-1 here, the George Weaver trainee tracked the pace which was laid down by favorite Squire (Leinster). The chalk looked in command, but Sandal's Song rolled late and got his picture taken in the end. The final running time was :56.30. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0.
