NEVADA BEACH (c, 3, Omaha Beach–Morrow Cove, by Yes It's True), one of three initially entered for trainer Bob Baffert in Saturday's Los Alamitos Derby, led in his stablemate Varney (Vekoma) to earn his first black type. Favored at 2-5 after the scratch of Tiz Secure (Maximum Security) brought the field size down to four, Nevada Beach quickly hooked up with Varney through the early stages and it was clear into the turn that the stablemates were far superior. With Varney stuck down inside unable to keep up, Nevada Beach was kept to task through the final sixteenth and won going away while geared down over a strung-out group. Lifetime Record: 3-2-1-0.

O-Pegram, Michael E., Watson, Karl and Weitman, Paul; B-Paul Tackett Revocable Trust, Phil Tackett Estate & Christy Tackett; T-Bob Baffert. Sales History: $260,000 ylg '23 KEESEP.
