Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted 11 hours ago Journalists Posted 11 hours ago Puca (Big Brown), the dam of the classic winning full-brothers Mage (Good Magic) and Dornoch, will be offered at Fasig-Tipton's 'Night of the Stars' Nov. 3, John Stewart told Ron Flatter on his podcast on Horse Racing Nation on Friday. Stewart, the owner of Resolute Racing, told Flatter that Puca had not gotten into foal this year. “She's 13 [and] she's empty. The broodmare of the year, we're taking her to the Night of the Stars, and we'll see what happens.” Stewart said on the podcast that he expected a $5-million reserve would be set for Puca, who was taken home by Resolute for $2.9-million during Keeneland November in 2023. “I think it's going to take north of $5 million to buy her,” Stewart said. “We paid $2.9 million for her. I don't want to put horses with unrealistic expectations even though some people think that. You know, the guy that [says] his toys are always worth more than everybody else's toys. I'm an investor at the end of the day. I may think she's worth $20 million, right? That's not like a market asset.” When Stewart purchased her, a full-brother to Mage and Dornoch was in-utero. The productive mare is also responsible for MGISP Baeza (McKinzie) and an early May filly once again by Good Magic. “She foaled late this year,” said Resolute's owner. “We were going to send her to Frankel. That's what I would do if I had kept her. He's the best stallion in the world. I think that there's turf in the pedigree. She's already proven on dirt what she can do. To take her to the next level and showing her [via turf], I understand that. But there's a commercial part of this business as well.” Currently, Puca is not in foal after having visited multiple leading North American sire Into Mischief. During the podcast, Stewart told Flatter that buying Puca back could be a possibility.
