Robert Clay's Grandview Equine went to a cool $1-million to acquire VALIANT (Into Mischief) at the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Select Yearling Sale. Partnering with LNJ Foxwoods and Hubert Vester, the ownership group sent the colt to trainer Brad Cox. The debuting bay is the first foal out of unraced Validest (Medaglia d'Oro)–a Vester purchase for $350,000 from the 2021 Keeneland November Sale while she was in foal to Authentic. Validest is a half-sister to GII American Turf Stakes hero Global View (Galileo {Ire}) and the dam of GISW Gun Pilot (Gun Runner). As for Valiant's extended female family, it includes MGSW A.P. Warrior (A.P. Indy).

Also making the gate is Southern Soul (Authentic). His dam is a half-sister to GSW Travelin Man (Trippi), GSW Discreet Dancer (Discreet Cat), and SW Sweet N Discreet (Discreet Cat), who herself produced MGSW Sweet Melania (American Pharoah) and SW Sweet Rebecca (American Pharoah). TJCIS PPS

Coffee Pot Stable homebred Fregata (War Front) is a first-time starter trained by Wayne Catalano. The filly is out of MGSW Farrell (Malibi Moon), whose half-brother is MGISW Carpe Diem (Giant's Causeway).

Another homebred is set for her unveiling. Bred and ready to race for Spendthirft, Steve Asmussen trainee Civilianaire (Bolt d'Oro) hails from a stakes-winning dam, whose half-brothers include GI Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile victor Spun to Run (Hard Spun) and SW Informed Patriot (Hard Spun). TJCIS PPS
