Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted 9 hours ago Journalists Posted 9 hours ago Last but not least in the TDN consignor spotlight Q&A series, the attention turns to Philippe Brosset of Applewood Stud, with the consignment offering three horses at the Arqana August Sale. Can you tell us about your August Sale draft. We have a lovely Sea The Moon colt who is a real Classic type while the Earthlight filly is very mature and strong. We are also very excited to offer a lovely-moving filly by first-season sire Torquator Tasso. What young sires are you most looking forward to seeing the progeny [yearlings or foals] of this season? Here in France, it will be interesting to see how the progeny of Ace Impact is received as he was such a magnificent racehorse. We are also looking forward to seeing the yearlings by Baaeed and foals by Good Guess. In your experience, what type of horse does particularly well at the August Sale? I don't think there is necessarily one particular type of yearling for Deauville and the sale attracts a very wide international clientele. But given the sale is relatively early in the year, you need a horse that is well enough developed. What is your best memory on the sale ground at Arqana? Selling our top price at this sale last year for the Kingman filly at €520,000 which was an amazing result for us so early here on this farm. And when you do get that all-important result in the sales ring, how do you like to celebrate? With family and the staff. If you weren't involved in bloodstock, what career path would you have taken? Graphic design or architecture. Tell us something that people don't know about you? I'm very moody (but actually, this may be well known!) Do you have any superstitions or good luck charms? I don't think I am especially superstitious but I like my day to start on the right path (or else I get superstitious!). Best piece of advice you ever received? Always go with your gut feeling. If you feel like something is wrong, it usually is. Biggest influence on your career? My time working at Coolmore in Ireland and the USA.
