TDN Verdict: The two-year-old fillies Lady Iman and Spicy Marg bring another–and welcome–dimension to this renewal, as Europe's sprint division has been feeling a bit tired for a while and in need of some excitement. Most of the recent Group 1s in this category have been won by ex-handicappers and there is very little separating the top ones in that sphere and the Pattern-race brigade, so it is up to the likes of the juveniles and the unexposed three-year-old Sayidah Dariyan to stage a breakthrough. The latter took the track's six-furlong G3 Summer Stakes last month and should have no problems with the drop back to five as he tackles the hardened band of speedsters led by Arizona Blaze and Asfoora. TDN Verdict: Trawlerman has gone from strength to strength since winning this meeting's feature Ebor Handicap three years ago and now that Kyprios is out of the way seems to have taken another step forward. There is little evidence that the impressive Gold Cup hero has any weakness here, with stablemate Sweet William very much his underling and the course specialist Al Qareem needing to improve over a trip that is probably too far. Reciprocated looked a bright prospect before flopping in the Listed Pat Eddery Stakes over seven, while the Thirsk novice winner Lifeplan has a lot to find race one to two even allowing for his obvious promise. On bear ratings, there isn't much between him and the Summer Mile winner Never So Brave, but in terms of the speed he can produce it is a relative gulf. Maranoa Charlie will give it his all as usual and will probably keep going, but he may lack something at the top level and could just be a sitting duck while the 2023 Gimcrack winner Lake Forest needs to get back to the form of his Golden Eagle success.
