Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted 9 hours ago Journalists Posted 9 hours ago What Geelong Races Where Geelong Racecourse – 99 Breakwater Rd, Breakwater VIC 3219 When Friday, August 22, 2025 First Race 1:30pm AEST Visit Dabble The Geelong racecourse is the destination for a competitive eight-race meeting on Friday afternoon. With clear skies and a track already rated a Good 4 at the time of acceptances, there will be no excuses for fancied runners throughout the program, especially with rail out 3m from the 1800m-400m and true the remainder. The first race at Geelong is set to go at 1:30pm AEST. Best Bet at Geelong: Tournelle Tournelle has been knocking on the door all prep and finds a very winnable 0–64. She maps to land midfield with cover from barrier six, and Jamie Mott sticking is a tick for a mare who’s been game in defeat at 1600m. Back to the 1512m looks perfect now, and she gets a nice setup with a couple of genuine on-pacers to cart her into the race before the bend. If Tournelle brings anything close to her best, this is her day to put one away. Best Bet Race 5 – #5 Tournelle (6) 4yo Mare | T: Anthony & Sam Freedman | J: Jamie Mott (58.5kg) Next Best at Geelong: Imamanzor Imamanzor brings solid city form back to country grade and should relish 1715m around Geelong. He was a brave third at Murray Bridge last start and boxed on well in a $150k Flemington 1700m the start prior, so this BM64 is a downshift. From barrier four he can park in the first four, control his rhythm, and use his turn of foot early in the home straight. Declan Bates knows him well, and on a Good 4 his two wins at 1300–1400m plus recent 1600–1700m efforts read well. With even luck, Imamanzor looks hard to hold out. Next Best Race 6 – #1 Imamanzor (4) 4yo Gelding | T: Symon Wilde | J: Declan Bates (60.5kg) Best Value at Geelong: Alpinova Alpinova is absolutely humming and can spear for a hat trick despite the wide alley. She’s fresh off back-to-back wins at Mildura (1209m) and Warracknabeal (1205m), both with strong last 600m splits and the latest with authority through the line. Up to BM58 suits; the draw (14) likely forces Koby Jennings to ride patiently and blend into it three-wide with cover — ideal at Geelong’s long run home at the 1200m. With her current confidence and proven record at the trip, she profiles as a juicy each-way play with horse racing bookmakers. Best Value Race 8 – #14 Alpinova (14) 6yo Mare | T: Brooke Verwey-Mitchell | J: Koby Jennings (58.5kg) Friday quaddie tips for Geelong Geelong quadrella selections Friday, August 22, 2025 5-10-11 1-2 1-2-3-11 4-6-10-14 Horse racing tips View the full article Quote
