Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted August 27 Journalists Posted August 27 Looking to remain perfect while making her stakes debut, 'TDN Rising Star' Time to Dream (Not This Time) made short work of her rivals as she ran off to an easy victory in Saratoga's P.G. Johnson Stakes Wednesday afternoon. A headstrong Vernon Valley (Vekoma) went to the front from her outside draw while Time to Dream, breaking from post 1, settled at the back early through moderate early fractions of :24.03 and :49.21. Given the signal by Irad Ortiz Jr. exiting the far turn, the 3-5 choice was drawn to the outside for her run, burst to the front midstretch and drew off to score by an easy five-length margin over fellow first-out winner Scratch It (Tapit). “[Trainer] Todd [Pletcher] told me, 'ride her like a good horse.' I think she is, so that's what I did,” said Ortiz. “I was in a good position, I know the pace went a little slow, so I tried to start working out of the backside–start working out for somewhere if the pace going too slow, tried to make an early move maybe in the second turn. It worked out beautiful. She's such a nice one.” Sent off second choice as party of an entry going a mile at the Spa July 25, Time to Dream proved best, winning by 2 1/4 lengths over Maoira (Speightstown)) while earning TDN Rising stardom in the process. “We were very excited about her debut and even more so coming out [today],” said Pletcher. “You just hope they continue to train well. She trained really well following her debut and she came over and handled herself very professionally. She was great in the paddock and had to stand in the gate a little while and took that in stride and displayed that big turn of foot that she has again.” Time to Dream is a half to MGSW and GISP Red Carpet Ready (Oscar Performance), who did her best running on the dirt. Devilish Grin rounded out the trifecta. A half-sister to GISW Joking, unraced Wild Silk is also responsible for a colt from this season by Cody's Wish. P. G. JOHNSON S.
