Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted 12 hours ago Journalists Posted 12 hours ago A quartet of top-level winners headline the catalogue for the Tattersalls December Mares Sale, which takes place from Monday, December 1 to Wednesday, December 3. A total of 885 lots will be offered across the three days, with the cream of the crop set to go under the hammer during the fourth edition of the Sceptre Sessions scheduled for Monday, December 1 and Tuesday, December 2. Heading the stellar cast in 2025 are the four-time Group 1 winner Porta Fortuna (Caravaggio) (lot 1734), the first Cartier Champion Three-Year-Old Filly ever to be offered for sale as a filly in/out of training, and last year's G1 Sun Chariot Stakes heroine Tamfana (Soldier Hollow) (lot 1743), who was also placed in two Classics. They will be joined by this year's G1 Prix de l'Opera scorer Barnavara (Calyx) (lot 1753) and the globetrotting Choiysa (Night Of Thunder) (lot 1717), winner of the GI Jenny Wiley Stakes. That quartet feature among a total of 25 Group- and Listed-winning race fillies to be offered across the two Sceptre Sessions. They are joined by the high-class French filly Survie (Churchill) (lot 1723), who was beaten just a head in last year's G1 Prix de Diane; the G2 T von Zastrow Stutenpreis winner and multiple Group 1-placed Tiffany (Farhh) (lot 1747); and the Group 3-winning three-year-olds Atsila (Phoenix Of Spain) (lot 1711), Lady Of Spain (Phoenix Of Spain) (lot 1754) and Saqqara Sands (Oasis Dream) (lot 1756). Other potential highlights include last year's G1 Irish Oaks third Purple Lily (Calyx) (lot 1447), plus Group 3-winning older fillies such as Fair Angellica (Harry Angel) (lot 1706), Karmology (Golden Horn) (lot 1749), Rage Of Bamby (Saxon Warrior) (lot 1451) and Spiritual (Invincible Spirit) (lot 1729). Alongside fillies and mares who have excelled on the racecourse, the Sceptre Sessions will showcase proven Group 1 producers, led by the blue hen Suelita (Dutch Art) (lot 1726), dam of the G1 2,000 Guineas winner Chaldean, who will be offered carrying a Frankel own-sibling, and Way To My Heart (Galileo) (lot 1738), dam of the dual Group 1-winning two-year-old filly Precise (Starspangledbanner), who will be offered in foal to Wootton Bassett. They will be joined by the dams of three further Group/Grade 1 winners this year in Moment Of Truth (Teofilo) (lot 1444), dam of the Diana Stakes heroine Excellent Truth (Cotai Glory); Visions (Worthadd) (lot 1760), dam of the Phoenix Stakes hero Power Blue (Space Blues); and Liberisque (Equiano) (lot 1755), dam of the Flying Five Stakes scorer Arizona Blaze (Sergei Prokofiev). Others set to go under the hammer include Onshore (Sea The Stars) (lot 1739), dam of the G1 Grand Prix de Paris-winning young Onesto, and Unaided (Dansili) (lot 1708), dam of the GI Breeders' Cup Mile-winning filly Uni (More Than Ready), who will be offered in foal to City Of Troy. The Sceptre Sessions also feature mares from many of the best families in the European stud book, including Magic Ring (lot 1751), a Dubawi full-sister to Henry Longfellow out of the outstanding racemare Minding (Galileo); Chere Darmoiselle (Kingman) (lot 1724), a half-sister to Too Darn Hot out of brilliant racemare and producer Dar Re Mi (Singspiel), offered in foal to Zarak; and Caliyza (Le Havre) (lot 1452), a half-sister to the Aga Khan Stud's multiple Group 1 winner Calandagan, offered in foal to his sire Gleneagles. “In its short history, the Sceptre Sessions of the Tattersalls December Mares Sale has established itself as one of the highlights of the worldwide bloodstock sales calendar, providing a showcase for the very best fillies and mares available in Europe and from further afield,” said Tattersalls chairman Edmond Mahony. “This year's renewal looks the equal of any of the first editions with four Group/Grade 1-winning fillies on offer, alongside outstanding broodmares including the remarkable Suelita and Way To My Heart, the dam of 1,000 Guineas favourite Precise. “The Tattersalls December Mares Sale has for many decades been the source of fillies and mares who go on to be the cornerstone of breeding operations around the world and we look forward to welcoming the usual international cast of buyers to Newmarket for the most influential breeding stock sale in Europe.” The full catalogue is available to view here.
