New Vocations Breeders’ Cup Pledge Tops $100,000

The New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program will raise over $100,000 in its 16th Annual Breeders' Cup Pledge, the organization announced Tuesday.

This year's results were boosted by two Future Stars Friday winners connected to pledge participants: Ted Noffey (Into Mischief), representing Spendthrift Farm and Todd Pletcher, and Gstaad (GB) (Starspangledbanner {Aus}), representing Coolmore and Partners.

Additionally, multiple pledged horses also placed throughout the Breeders' Cup, including Brussels (Ire) (Wootton Bassett {GB}), Percy's Bar (Upstart), Ground Support (Army Mule), Citizen Bull (Into Mischief), Chancer McPatrick (McKinzie), The Lion in Winter (Ire) (Sea the Stars {Ire}), Sierra Leone (Gun Runner), Fierceness (City of Light), Nitrogen (Medaglia d'Oro), and Imagination (Into Mischief), further fueling contributions.

Additional pledges continue to arrive as final donations are confirmed. Since its inception, the Breeders' Cup Pledge has generated more than $1 million, with 100% of proceeds directly supporting New Vocations' rehabilitation, retraining, and rehoming programs serving more than 600 racehorses annually.

“New Vocations always excels in fulfilling their mission with our horses in need of aftercare, and it's a privilege to support them,” said Spendthrift Farm Owner Eric Gustavson.

This year's participating connections include Bob and Jill Baffert, Cheyenne Stables, LLC, Coolmore and Partners, CUYATHY, LLC, D.J. Stable, LLC, Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners, Elements Racing, LLC, Flanagan Racing, Hat Creek Racing, KatieRich Stables, LLC, Robert V. LaPenta, Robert Masterson, Graham Motion, NBS Stable, Repole Stable, SF Racing, Spendthrift Farm, Starlight Racing, Stonestreet Stables, Todd Pletcher, Tom and Katie Ryan, Waves Edge Capital, LLC, White Birch Farm, Inc., and WinStar Farm.

“We are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming response from owners and trainers who joined the Pledge this year,” said Anna Ford, Thoroughbred Program Director for New Vocations. “With 44 participating horses, this campaign raises awareness and much-needed funds to continue our mission and grow our aftercare efforts.”
