McKathan, whose wide-reaching career included a hand in the development of 2015 Triple Crown winner American Pharoah (Pioneerof the Nile), passed away Feb. 2, according to family members. McKathan, in partnership with his brother Kevin, operated the McKathan Brothers Training Center outside of Ocala, specializing in the development of 2-year-old in training prospects.
